Analyze Your Finances

This isn't the most exciting place to start your search, but it is a useful one. Establishing your price limit will let you quickly remove models from your search before you waste time reading over their features and specifications.

If you are buying a beginner UTV, expect to spend around $10,000. If you are buying a more powerful and advanced model, it will likely be closer to $20,000.

If you are hoping for lower-priced models, consider getting a used UTV. Thanks to depreciation, these models will be much less than their original sticker price.

Determine Your Group Size

Some people use their UTVs for recreational trail riding. Others rely on the side-by-side for projects around their property. Either way, it's important to determine how many people you may be bringing along with you.

UTVs usually fit 2-6 people. A higher passenger capacity will mean a larger UTV that has a higher cost, but will still be significantly cheaper than buying two smaller passenger capacity models.

Determine the UTV's Purpose

How you will use the UTV will impact the features you want to prioritize.

Hunting enthusiasts, for example, can get a UTV with a camouflaged exterior that will better blend into its surroundings. Farmers will want to buy a side-by-side that is compact enough to fit through any fence gates or barn doors.
